I am using 4.1rc2-en. I have created an 'about me' page. The filename is listed as about_me.php. In reality, MT has created about-me.php.

In order to 'solve' the problem, I copied the file and now have both names. I am unsure whether this 'feature' has been addresses, so I thought I'd post it here.

This isn't your problem, but upgrade to the final release. Nobody's going to help you with a pre-release version.

The filename you specify on the page creation screen is more like an entry's basename, and not always exactly what's going to come out when the file is actually written to disk. You need to look at your page template's archive mapping, and adjust as necessary.

I will upgrade. However, I should make it clear, the mismatch is between the filename produced and the filename shown on the edit form.

http://www.geofffox.com/MT/images/cap.png - This produces about-me.php, not about_me.php

I know. And it doesn't change what I said. Go look at your archive mappings.
I personally think that field needs to be relabeled somewhat.

OK - am now on the released 4.1.

Su - I am feeling my way around this, so please excuse my simple questions.

Where is the mapping which turns a sentence to a filename performed? Is this in a template? Is there generally a specific template that performs this task. I assume it will be as simple as substituting an underscore for a dash. I just don't know where to look.

Thanks,
Geoff Fox

Archive mappings are defined on the same screen as the templates they relate to. Documentation here: http://www.movabletype.org/documentation/a...ve-mapping.html

Thank you.

I had been looking right there... in fact had already customized it. I just chose the wrong variable iteration.

My last computer class was in 1968! No one writes in Fortran using Hollerith cards anymore.

All the best,
