I've got a blog where the comment entry page is getting whacked because of RAM overload when it loads, and the guys at Dreamhost noticed the mt_log is 653,892 rows and guessed that's the reason. Is that needed? Can I clean it out somehow? Are these guys wrong and would something else cause a simple template that used to work to now grab so much RAM they kill it?

I would take a look at the log to see if there are any major problems listed.

You can view them by selecting the system log from the interface. When you are happy you can clear down mt_log.
