I use MT 4.01 and CustomFields. I want to be able to sort Entries tags using CustomFields instead of the usual sort_by fields.

I can't do it with my current setup.

However, I see that MT has recently been revised. Can I do what I want with the new version of MT / Customfields?

If yes, I will upgrade. If no, I won't.

IIRC you still cannot (have not had a chance to test it), it is due to the way plug-ins must store data, sorting would make the system become very slow.

According to movalog.com, you could sort entries in Movable Type 3 with custom fields:

Sorting by custom fields for all supported system objects block/container tags (for example MTEntries)

Can anyone confirm or explain why this feature no longer exists in MT 4?

I have been hunting around for an answer to this and it looks like a FAIL.

For MT to be a true CMS competitor it needs sorting by custom fields. Otherwise custom fields are just data containers.
