Here's a simple question from a newbie who needs the advice of you experts.
Suppose I have a site dedicated to New York city, and its hotels and restaurants.
My entries have the following categories:
1- NYC Restaurants
2- NYC Hotels
3- NYC Neighborhoods (This has several subcategories: Soho, Tribeca, Chinatown, etc.)
Each entry is listed under ONE "neighborhood" subcategory, PLUS EITHER under "Hotels" OR "Restaurants" category.
So for example, an entry about a good restaurant located in the Chinatown neighborhood, will be listed under Neighborhood subcategory of "Chinatown" AND category of "Restaurants."
So then, how do I get a list of links to other entries under subcategory: Chinatown and Category:Hotels
And, is there a good teach-yourself book on MT out there which really teaches how to use the tags and doesn't just use the default templates? I am using MT4.01
Thanks.

OK Let me see if I can make this simpler:
My blog has 3 categories:
A, B, C
Category C has 10 subcategories: C1, C2, C3, C4, C5...C10
Every entry is filed under either A or B, plus one of the subcategories of C. Under the margin of the entry I want to list related entries.
By "related" entry, this is what I mean specifically:
If the Entry is under categories A and C1, I want a list of all other entries that are under categories B and C1. (note: B was substituted for A)
If the entry is under A and C2, I want a list of all other entries that are under B and C2.
If the entry is under A and C3, I want a list of all other entries that are under B and C3....etc until you reach C10.
If the entry is under B and C1, I want a list of all other entries that are under A and C1.
If the entry is under B and C2, I want a list of all other entries that are under A and C2.
If the entry is under B and C3, I want a list of all other entries that are under A and C3....etc until you reach C10.
Can anyone tell me a nice, elegant way of doing this instead of me resorting to the use of 20 if/then statements?

OK, since no one can figure this out apparently, let me put it even more simply:
My blog has a category "C" with 10 subcategories: C1, C2, C3, C4...C10
I would like to create an if/then loop which does this:
For every entry with subcategory C1-->C10:
If entry is under categories A and Cx, then display other entries in categories B and Cx.

Your first post here is a good example of where you'd want to use additional categories, NOT subcategories.
Since you're using MT4x, you'll want to look
here for somewhere to start. Which I found via google, by the way.
