I have a dedicated server with several installations of MTOS. Suddenly all of them lost their ability to display captcha. The deeper I dig, I discover a common error. It is generated by trying to access a single letter:

Image error: Exception 430: unable to open file `/mt-static/images/captcha-source/p.png'

I've changed NOTHING that I know of in the server's configuration. I'm completely dumbfounded here. Any ideas?

So... I see that you've managed to fix your problem - when I click the link, I get a perfectly good CAPTCHA. I'm having the same issue now - how did you fix it?
