I am trying to import from Wordpress 2.6, but I keep getting error messages.
It imported my categories just fine, but has not imported any of my posts.
Just how am I supposed to import here?

There is no such thing as WordPress 2.6 (yet). If you're using dev code, then you need to first confirm that the export format hasn't changed. If it has then I wouldn't expect anything to be done about it until there's a final release. To my knowledge, the WXR format is still not actually documented anywhere and so has to be reverse engineered each time it's modified. And then sometimes the files aren't even valid in the first place.
If that was a typo, then what are the errors?
What version of MT (and the import plugin) are you using?
Did you search the forum for parts of that error message? You might also check the bug tracker, as there are some cases in there, not all resolved.
