Full Version: Deleting Certain Mt Files Off Of Server

Hello! I'm not sure this is considered 'non-technical' but it didn't seem to fit anywhere else.

I'm just wondering if it's possible to delete certain files/folders in the MT folder to make more space on my server (currently don't have the option to buy more space....). Is every single file/folder necessary to run MT?

Just wondering biggrin.gif

Thanks!

It's kind of impossible to answer this question if you don't tell us what you're thinking of deleting.
Short version, though: the only things you should feel safe deleting are plugins, the stuff in /extras, and maybe /tools if you have no plans to need them. Maybe the /php directory if you never plan on doing dynamic publishing(I'm not entirely sure of this.)

But really, anything you trash isn't going to regain any amount of space significant enough that you won't find yourself in this situation again very soon. The entire 4.12 distribution only takes up about 14M. It sounds to me like the actual problem you need to resolve is that your hosting account doesn't seem to give you very much space. That, or you have a lot of data files lying around that don't need to be there.

Only 14M? My MT folder is 200+M!!! That's the only thing on the server and I have less than 50posts, no images and am using one of the minimalist templates.... maybe that's the issue? Perhaps my upgrade wasn't done properly... I think I'll just do a clean install and see if that solves the problem.... thx biggrin.gif
