how can you make a list of category links but exclude some of your categories?

how do you avoid listing a particular month? i plan on posting stuff from my pre-blogging days, and i'll probably edit the date so that they all fall within a certain month prior to my start in blogging.

and one last question: is it possible to set individual archives only for certain categories?

The FilterCategories plugin might help you with the first.

On the second, perhaps you can assign the entries a special category name and then use that FilterCategories plugin to exclude them from your MTArchiveList as well.

There is no way that I know of to only have individual archives generated for certain categories.

Maybe all of these things you want are an indication that some of those categories/entries deserve their own, separate blog?
