Comments are taking 1 minute or longer to post. My readers are getting so frustrated. What can I do?

You can check you templates for 'expensive' operations such as not etc.

You can check to see how many templates you are set to build with the main index, it could be that it is updating a bunch of ancillary archives.

You might gain some benefit from the publish queue, but IIRC you are on YAHOO and I don't know if they allow cron jobs.

other nice man...

Thanks for your help....

what do these errors mean??

Publish error in template 'Comment Preview Template': Error in tag: Error in tag: Can't find template 'javascript'

Publish error in template 'Comment Response': Error in tag: Can't find included template module 'Header'

I have been getting them at myother blog http://lonestarstruck.com

I will look into the other things you mentioned above...

Hi,

I tried to find out the answers to you suggestions. I couldnt find any information about where to find out how many templates are set to build with the main index.

I called yahoo and they were no help.

I tried to ask them about what you called cron jobs but they didnt know what I was talking about.

Also, do you have any ideas about the errors I posted for our other MT 4.12 site?

Or should I start a new topic with them?

Thanks, Joe

Sorry, I don't have much internet access for the next two weeks.

When you go to the template screen you see a list of templates, all the ones with a green tick with rebuild when you get a comment (when ever an index file gets rebuilt)

You should see a Javascript and a Header template listed under templates, however looking at the generator tag I see that it saying your are running MT3.x, are you trying to use v4 templates in v3?

A cron job is a scheduled task that runs in the background, normally configured through a control panel.

Thank you Rob...

I am running MT 4.12 but I am using the stylesheet, main index template and individual archive template that I had in 3.2.

Atom Index atom.xml
Main Index index.html
Master Archive Index /blog/index.html
RSD rsd.xml
RSS 2.0 Index index.xml
Site JavaScript mt-site.js
Stylesheet styles-site.css

The above are all checked in green. Which should I uncheck?

What are the results of unchecking?

Thanks again...

You don't need to rebuild your site JavaScript or style sheets every time someone comments, so those can be switched off and manually built if you make a change.

You can try adding DebugMode 8 to your config file, this will write to the web server error log templates that take more the 1/4 second to build http://www.movabletype.org/documentation/a.../debugmode.html

Rob, one more dumb question....

How do I turn those green check marks off, or better yet... How do I stop rebuilding java script and style sheets? I can't seem to find a way to disable the automatic rebuilding.

Thanks again, and hopefully this is the last you'll hear from me on this issue.

Thanks

Design -> Templates

Open templates and uncheck Publish this template automatically when rebuilding index templates
