The sign in option is not available on the comment form. An example page can be found at http://www.gfpiv.com/wedding/2008/08/comment_test.html
When I click the "Preview" button, I am then given the option to Sign in.
After signing in in, I'm taken back to the comment form, but it does not show I'm logged in.
I need to press the "Preview" button again in order for MT to recognize I'm logged in.
Feel free to try it as a test.
Background info:
This is a new blog with MT version 4.1. In order to use this particular style, I've had to downgrade my templates to version 3.3. I have another blog on the site, also with older templates, where the comment system works without any problems.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to resolve this by adding the below to my downgraded entry template.
<MTIfCommentsAccepted><script type="text/javascript" src="<$MTLink template="javascript"$>"></script></MTIfCommentsAccepted>
