Hi-

I've had MT 3 installed for awhile and like it and I am planning to upgrade to MT 4, and I see that MySQL 4 is listed as required. I am currently running MySQL 3.23-max and have been running it since 2003 with no problems and it really works great, and I have several other apps on my server that are using it, so I would prefer to avoid upgrading if possible. Current uptime on the currently installed MySQL 3.23 is 694 days so I really don't want to mess with it.

Is there any specific reason MySQL 4 is now required, or is it just that SixApart don't want to support installs on 3.23? I am pretty sure I can support myself if that is the only issue.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Um. This isn't a very good argument, you know. Just saying.

My suggestion to you then would be to just not upgrade the MT system until you can actually fulfill the requirements. I don't recall the details, but the last time the application's (generally rather conservative) requirements were increased, there was a lot of discussion about it and it was not undertaken lightly. I doubt it's anything as simple and petty as just not wanting to support the older version of MySQL. Remember that the Perl requirement is for a version that's something over seven years old now.

[EDIT]
Yes, it's required. There are queries to the db that will only be understood from v4 up.
