Trying to install MT on localhost but it will not initialize.

I’m on Windows XP Pro.
XAMPP installs correctly.
Perl 5.10.0-2.2.9 appears to install correctly.
MT system check file runs smooth.
But when I try to initialize MT I get the same error:

Got an error: install_driver(mysql) failed: Attempt to reload DBD/mysql.pm aborted.
Compilation failed in require at (eval 26) line 3.

I’ve re-downloaded and re-installed four times with the same error.
Any help is appreciated!

It looks like a problem with your MySQL drivers, also I have seen some problems reported by other people with Perl 5.10x

It was the only Perl in town:

The only Perl I use http://downloads.activestate.com/ActivePerl/Windows/

I'm a little over my head. Should I do a complete uninstall or simply install version 8? Put another way, if I load 8, will it overwrite 10?

Personally I would uninstall Perl 5.10 and then run the 5.8 installer.

Okay, now when I try running the http://localhost/cgi-bin/mt/mt-check.cgi check, I get the following error:

Server error!

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.
Error message:
Premature end of script headers: mt-check.cgi
If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Error 500

Any ideas?
