Full Version: How To Turn Off Sign In To Comment
Movable Type Community Forum > Using Movable Type > Commenting System

Hi, I'm using MT 4.12 OS on an Intranet. We want to turn off the option for people to sign in to comment, so when they hit the "Comments" link, they get the comments form. I've set the permissions to accept comments from anyone, and to immediately publish comments, but I still get the "Sign In to Comment" link. Is there a way to turn this sign in feature off, or can someone tell me what code to remove/modify so it's turned off? I appreciate it; thanks.

If you changed your comment prefs, did you also rebuild the Javascript index template?

I just rebuilt it, but it didn't seem to have any effect. Is there a section that I should comment out?

Rebuilding the files should make the necessary changes.

Was this ever resolved? I am having the same problem. My Comment settings are set to approve anyone, and Allow Registation is de-selected.

If I view an entry page, the form is present for a moment and then disappears. Presumably, after the JS fully loads?

After changing my prefs, I rebuilt my site and still am getting the Sign In to Comment message.

For a little more info: my templates are using dynamic publishing. After finding this thread, I then changed my Publish settings to "set individually", and set mt.js to publish a static file. Also, before republishing after the Comments pref change, I deleted my .htaccess file and mtview.php files (shot in the dark).

I would greatly appreciate any help with this issue. Thanks!

I think you need to go to Preferences -> Registration and, once there, check the "Anonymous Comments" box.
