I'm not sure if it's my browser but I doubt it since I just upgraded... was there a purposeful change to the dashboard's menubar in that the drop down feature no longer shows or works? Instead, upon clicking an item from the menubar, I'm taken to that main page... so for example: clicking Design takes me to the main page with the new look of the templates management, Preferences takes me to the same page in the past release, but besides the Design page, I'm most concerned with the Manage link as I now see no way to manage my assets, links or other of the many features that were available in the previous build's drop down menu - further, I don't see them to the right of the dashboard either... Another example is the Create link ... when clicking it takes me directly to the Create Entry page... what if I want to create a link, an asset or other feature that was listed there before??

What happened to the menubar?

It's a complete upgrade to 4.2, from 4.12, thus yes, mt-static that was in the new release's download zip folder is now in place.

I just had the same problem in Firefox. Clearing the cache and restarting Firefox solved it.

I'm not having the same the luck... sad.gif I cleared all private data and it's still not functioning correctly... I should emphasize that the only drop down that works is the one with the "System Overview" and the blogs found therein... so I'm confused over why the menubar with the "Create", "Manage", "Design" etc options do not show drop downs if the System Overview drop down does work...

I appreciate your assistance with this... but could this be a bug? Of course, I welcome other suggestions that haven't been thought of yet too...

Thank you

I took a deeper look at the mt-static files... you were correct imabug - the mt-static files where outdated. However, previous versions of mt-static I never recall updating. To my understanding, are there not two version of mt-static? One version goes in cgi-bin/movable-type and the other goes in /site/location/blog/ ? In the past, I found it always sufficient to simply upgrade files found in cgi-bin, including its mt-static, and everything worked fine. Evidently, upgrading /site/location/blog 's mt-static for this release has fixed this problem and now this problem is solved. Having to edit the mt-static folder is a bit inconvenient as I have to go in replace all the customized support/ and themes/ folders that have my customized styles and etc..., which is why I never fussed with this folder before.

Thank you sincerely for your time.

Nope, only one. Always has been.

Always update them. If they're in the download, there's a reason for it. You might have gotten away with this in the past(sound familiar? *grin*) but that's only because there were either no or minimal changes between the versions involved in that particular upgrade. 4.2 made a lot of changes to a lot of things, and I'm not at all surprised something broke as a result of the older files.

Actually, now that I think about it, the way the menu dropdowns function was completely changed. They used to be triggered with Javascript(which was part of why they'd sometimes "stick" open, if you ever ran into that problem), and now in 4.2 they're CSS-based. So, you not having the new stylesheet explains why they didn't work.

Make a copy or download the old version's files, then overwrite. Problem solved.
Note that this assumes that if you've customized a bundled theme, you did it by creating a new copy and worked on that. If you edit application files directly, then it does become your responsibility to track what you've changed.
