Full Version: Mt4.2 Problems

I have a couple of problems since upgrading to MT4.2. I've been tracking the release candidates quite closely, so I think I was upgrading from RC4.

* The performance has dropped badly. When publishing entries or commenting, I (and my readers) get a CGI timeout and a blank page - but the entry or comment is published. I have MT running as a vanilla CGI application with static publishing. This was working fine on previous 4.2 release candidates.

* My entry editing screen has lost the category editor so I can't add or edit categories. I've tried turning the category option on and off in the entry screen options, but it hasn't fixed it.

Any advice on either of these would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Dave...

Replying to myself is really rude, I realise, but I wondered if the performance problems I'm seeing could be caused by the Red Hat Perl performance bug (http://blog.vipul.net/2008/08/24/redhat-perl-what-a-tragedy/).

I'm running on Centos 5.2 and I've established that my Perl installation has this problem - the question is just whether MT uses the bless/overload combination that triggers the performance issues. Has anyone else using Red Hat's pre-packaged Perl 5.8.8 seen this problem?

Evidence seems to point to "no," at least as far as the main application is concerned. This is over my head in general, so refer the list thread for any further.

I'm having a similar experience on IIS.

Was running 4.13. Admin screens were not totally snappy, but usable.

Upgraded to 4.21. Now I've got at least a 10 second wait each time I try to do something in the admin tool. Just sits waiting for the server to respond.
