Hi, I'm using MT 3.33. Been using it for almost 2 years. Never had any problems.

This morning, I went to publish a new post and got the following error:

Writing to '/home/hpbcreat/public_html/mt-static/index.html.new' failed: Opening local file '/home/hpbcreat/public_html/mt-static/index.html.new' failed: Permission denied

It's odd because the entry shows up as published in the entry list, but when I go to the main page, the last entry shows up on the index page, but the one I wrote this AM can be viewed in the archives.

I checked permissions on the "index.html" file and got 6-6-6. Is this setting correct? I could be wrong, but I seem to recall that it should be something like 7-5-5.

Anyone know what this is about and how I can fix it?

Are you running out disk space?

On my server? Definintely not. Even with all my other sites, etc., I'm not even at 20% capacity of my entire server space.

OK, I've discovered a few more things:

I am no longer receiving email notices about new comments.

I tried to rebuild the entire blog, but I am getting the same error as above, except it is for the archived file of a much older post, and it's only that one.

I deleted the post I wrote yesterday, and then re wrote it. Same problem as before.

Grrrrrr.

Should you be publishing to mt-static?

As far as I know.

I've always published that way. I've made no changes to the software since I set it up in 2006.

Do you think it would help if I upgraded to a newer version of MT? And, how hard is it to upgrade and transfer everything over?
