I recently decided to upgrade to the newest version. So when I did this I did a backup of my posts which exported to mt.txt. I figured this is all I needed. I deleted my databases & files, then installed a new clean copy of Moveabletype. When I tried to do the import it said import was successful but I can't see any of those postings. Did I get impatient and go away from the import page before it was actually completed? Or is there something else I need to do.

I've tried this several times and I don't know what I'm missing. I read somewhere else on here that I needed to choose that it wasn't moveabletype but in mt format. Tried that, no dice. I also exported the current postings and looked at that format compared to my export from 3.17 and it's pretty much the same with the exception of the line breaks. So I selected the addition option of removing the line breaks and tried again....still no dice. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Alright I figured it out. Basically I used the Moveabletype import, and instead of using the "Browse" button in the browser to point to the mt.txt in my local machine I left it blank. I uploaded the mt.text into my cgi-bin/mt/import (cgi if you use godaddy) and then went to the import page and pressed the next button. So I would see the import successful but after that in the dialog box you see the names of the posts it imports. So if you are just seeing the two lines that say the import was successful and nothing else, it didn't work. Once I manually uploaded that file to the directory and ran it everything came up exactly how it was supposed to. Remember to re-publish the site after you are done and it will all show up on your site.
