Hi, all:

I've done many many seamless MT upgrades before, starting from 2.xx, so yesterday when I decided to go from 4.01 to 4.21 I had no worries.

However: I have double and triple-checked all of my FTP uploads, writable and executable permissions, made sure mt-config.cgi is correct, re-run mt-check.cgi just to make sure nothing has changed on my (Linux/Apache) server (it's all A-OK), and still, no matter how many times I try upgrading, it hangs every time when it gets to: "Assigning entry comment and TrackBack counts... (x%)"

Sometimes it gets to 20% complete, once as far as 46%, but sooner or later it always stops.

My MT blog (www.AdamSmithEsq.com) is my business publication (I'm a lawyer and management consultant) so clients count on it to be timely; I need to get this figured out.

Any ideas?

This may sound weird, but the problem seems to have had something to do with having my FTP client open and logged in at the same time as I was attempting to run the upgrade. I tried it again without the FTP client open and it went smoothly--DONE!
