My site, http://www.pocketgoddess.com runs on version 3.33 of Movable Type. Everything has always worked well, with no issues, until yesterday. I got rather behind in my posts and haven't updated anything since August. Yesterday when I tried to post a news entry, I found that I cannot get anything to update on the home page of my site!
I don't get any error messages when creating/saving a new entry. When I found that the home page wasn't updating, I tried rebuilding the site to see if that would fix the problem. At first I got this error message:
Error making path '/usr/home/pocket/public_html/news/2008/10': mkdir /usr/home/pocket/public_html/news/2008/10: Permission denied at
lib/MT/FileMgr/Local.pm line 107
I tried creating the directory for this month manually and rebuilding the site again; this time I got the following message:
Writing to '/usr/home/pocket/public_html/news/2008/10/size_matters_the_new_seagate_g.html.new' failed: Opening local file '/usr/home/pocket/public_html/news/2008/10/size_matters_the_new_seagate_g.html.new' failed: Permission denied
When I logged into my site's cpanel file management app, I found that there weren't any files in that directory I had made, so for some reason MT isn't writing the proper file for new entries, which explains why the home page isn't updating.
I haven't made ANY changes to the MT install on my site--I'm a writer, not a programmer(!) and any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I have articles ready to go, but nothing is getting published.
I hope that I picked the right forum topic and that I have clearly explained the problem. If anyone needs additional information, please let me know!
