I only get anecdotes from some bloggers about commenters having problems creating accounts. I don't have specific details, but I would like to know why it is that some new users immediately become "enabled" without my having to do anything (I'm one of only a few blog administrators, and I'm the one who gets the "new user" emails) while others stay in "pending" mode.
In theory, it seems that one would be able to create an account with any particular blog (does it matter if they sign up using Movable Type, Open ID, Livejournal, etc.?), create their account, and receive the "Activate your account" email, then when they activate it, I get an email letting me know that I have a new user, which I then look at to make sure they are enabled. It seems THAT should be it, right? I've never once received an email, and after checking the account, did I have to actually enable the person. I'm assuming that I only get this email AFTER they've confirmed their email address?
I can give further details if needed, because I know this sounds confusing.
Thanks.

I can add to this since I did my own troubleshooting.
I've found that (mostly) it's fine to create a MT user.
Using LiveJournal, it did not work.
Using OPENID - I have several logins in this: Flickr, LiveJournal, Yahoo, Wordpress.
I tried several variations (i.e. username.livejournal.com, username, flickr.com/photos/username, flickr.com/photos/numberusername)
The only one that DID work was my wordpress login (username.wordpress.com) This is true EVEN if I was logged into each of them (yahoo, flickr, livejournal, etc.)
For instance, the error message I get with using OPENID to login with my LiveJournal account is:

Is there a plugin or some code that I'm missing that I need for this to work? I'm hoping this additional info will help shed some light.
Thanks.
