Hi! I've been running my MT 4.2 build since the summer without problems, but suddenly it has rejected my username and password. The password recovery prompt also doesn't respond to what I believe is the right answer. I'm confidant that the username and password are correct, or were until something in the installation changed.

Does anyone have any ideas about what's gone wrong and how I might fix it? Thanks in advance!

Do you get any error messages?

No other error messages besides invalid login. I have access to the database, but I don't know much about MySQL or how to reset passwords through it. I'm running MT on a Media Temple Gridserver, so I can see the database through its interface.

You can try reseting the password through mySQL

I've looked in the MySQL database under author_id and everything is as I remembered it--but the api password it lists still doesn't work. Any more ideas?

The API password is for 3rd party apps like livewriter or flickr's blog this tool, no for day to day login in.

Okay...what's the password I need? The database's listed author_password doesn't work either. author_hint also fails to recover the password. It seems like MT is not reading the database correctly. Thanks again.

Your normal password is encrypted.

In the post I linked to there is an SQL statement that will allow you to reset the password.

Another thing to do is run CHECK TABLES in mySQL to see if the database is OK.
