I have 3 independent CMS's setup up under one url. One at the root, and two in their own directories.

Just about 6 hours ago anytime I try to publish the root, I get the following:

Error making path '/about': mkdir /about: Permission denied at lib/MT/FileMgr/Local.pm line 107


Everything has permissions of 777 and it was all running fine. I have double checked with my host about all of the directories and paths, they are all correct and did not change. This error only occurs with the root, and only with that directory. All other aspects and directories publish just fine. When I click "Edit Template" it takes me to the Main Index template.

I have read around and tried all of the other solutions but can't seem to find the root cause of the problem. As far as I've seen, everything is set up just right, and triple checked. I am running 4.21 w/Professional Pack and using the Professional Black theme.

I would do the following to troubleshoot this;

Check the path set in your publishing settings and make sure that it matches where you think you are publishing to.
Check the permissions and file/directory ownership of all the directories in the path to about/ if a parent directory does not allow execute permissions for "others" then the web server might not be able to access the sub directory (depending on ownership) and this fail to create the underlying directory.
Check or have your host check the attributes (lsattr) of the directories
Check for security settings/software such as SELinux which might block this operation

Open a support ticket with your hosting company, I assume you pay them for hosting, so why not make them earn your money?
