I have a couple of questions....

a) is there a way to embed a mini blog into a blog (aside from breaking up your posts into categories?
b) MT has a habit of moving old entries off a page  after "x" amount of days.  Is there a way to shut off this feature.

I want to build a photoblog...
the main page would be an index listing

post 1 = album 1 - cottage pictures
post 2 = album 2 - picnic inthe park
post 3 = album 3 - blog meet in toronto
post 4 = album 4 - at the beach

each post or album would display a thumbnail and a brief description of the album contents...

Upon clicking the thumbnail you would be  pulled into another sub blog or specific album with each photo being a single post in that album.

So essentially I am wondering if a person could build a master blog and servant blogs  all within the same  framework.  or  Do I have to build a master blog ( the index page) and each servant blog ( or album) would be a new separate blog that is linked back to the original master.

Thanks in advance

Yes and yes!

I think Kristine's excellent PHP alternative might help with the blogs within a blog option.  And with the MTEntries tag, you can specify lastn="10" or however many entries you want displayed.

Well yes I know about this option. But is there a way in keep everything  displayed permanently? as oopose to it moving into archives?

You could set the number of days to display in the Blog Config to like 10000 or something huge like that smile.gif

If you don't want to archive, you could turn off archiving so that you don't generate excess pages if you are wanting to keep them all on the front page.

Well, for a blog I set up for a story I'm working on, I established a category called "Welcome" and then specified the MTEntries tag to only list that category on the main page.  Since there's just the one entry, I don't have to worry about expired or non-associated entries showing up.  The rest of the files fall into place on the sidebar as links.

I don't know if this will help, but it's a thought.  If anything, as a last resort, I'm sure you could utilize the portal technique previously linked with categories and get the effect you want.

Good luck!
