Full Version: Dynamic Publishing Doesn't Work

I am trying to set up dynamic publishing.
Windows 2000 advanced server
IIS5
perl 5.8.8
php 5.2.6

php is installed and apparently is working (the test.php doesn't throw errors)

I set the archive templates to generate dynamically.

the structure of the site is:
Root
CoRobri-4 [the blog]
mt-static4 [for the static pages]
cgi-bin
mt-4 [so I can play withthis before I upgrade the 3.34 blog]

mtview.php exists in the corobri-4 folder
.htaccess does not exist

When I publish the site, I don't get any errors

When I look at the archives, I get the following:
Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.

When I look at the directory, I see index.html.static from when I was statically publishing the archives.

I am willing to bet that this is another example of PEBCAK - problem exists between chair and keyboard), but I've looked thru all the documentation I can find and have not found an answer.

TOIA

Dynamic publishing uses .htaccess files.

I can't remember off hand if IIS5 uses / understands them.

edit

Just checked, no it does not see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324064/EN-US/

You will probably need to dig in and make mt-view.php the custom 404 error handler.

Having seen what it took me to get the site up on 4.23 (and I had directions for that - I just didn't follow them), I can only imagine what it will take to get dynamic publishing to work.

Frankly, for the size of my teeny little blog, it isn't worth it. WHen the site gets too big for static publishing to work, I'll throw a Linux server and Apache on the local network.

Thanks...

Phill
