I have an odd problem that I hope I can describe. The MT blog will become unresponsive (mt.cgi) and will time out with something like a 500 error.

Restarting mysqld clears the problem.

However before I clear the problem if I run mysqlcheck it hangs forever on the mt_entry table. And I notice when looking at processes that a mysqld process has one of my cpu cores pegged at 100%. This is cleared upon restart of mysqld.

So - something is basically locking up the my_entry table.

Anyone know what might be happening? Thanks in advance.

If check tables is failing as well as MT it sounds like the database has become corrupt. Is this share hosting? That is how long can you get away with check tables hitting 100% CPU.
