i'm helping some friends with their site and neither of us have much experience with modifying publishing or movable type templates, and was just wondering if there's an easy way to change the monthly archive link list that accumulates to a HTML drop down menu? possibly a widget that already exists for something like this or anyone has done a similar modification?

they have archive entries dating back to 98/99 so the list in the layout is starting to get really long and creates long page scrolls on shorter pages like news entries. any help is greatly appreciated!

In 4.2x there is a monthly archives drop down widget template (just found it when looking for widget code)

thanks for the tip! had the ISP upgrade them from 4.1, apparently upgrades are only by request, there it was right in front of me. exactly what i was looking for.
