i've got MT installed under one domain name, but created a new blog on the same server, under a different domain name. both are virtual sites on the same box.

i cannot for the life of me get 'remember me' to work in the comments form on the second site.

details:

-MT 2.21 is installed under www.blogdaddy.com.
-within MT, i created a new blog under www.tokenramblings.com.
-both are sites hosted on the same server.

i've read every cookie and comment-related post here i can find, and none of the tips for others seem to be cutting it for me. what do i need to do to get cookies (and 'remember me') to work on http://www.tokenramblings.com/?

i can see that there isn't a cookie getting loaded for the site www.tokenramblings.com, and i'm thinking (genius that i am) this is where we need to start... i'm at a total loss.

okay, i've 'fixed' it...but i think it's just a kludge. mt CGIPath is to the main URL where MT was originally installed, www.blogdaddy.com. my var HOST was pointing to www.tokenramblings.com.

changed the comment listing template to have var HOST pointing to the same as the CGIPath, and now the cookie sets, and seems to be working.

the cookie, of course, is set under the URL for the MT installation, not the URL for the blog it's actually on. is there a way to modify this, or am i better off just installing MT directly to www.tokenramblings.com?

thanks...

I have an interesting dillemma that I can't figure out either..  It's on a site I set up for a friend.

The Remember My Info stuff works wonderfully.  But if you go into preview mode, all info is lost.  Many users preview, focusing mainly on what they wrote, and totally don't notice that their name/email/URL is now gone, then hit submit to go live.  The result (since I don't require email or URL info and allow anon.) is the comment....with no information.

What am I missing to get the information to follow the user from draft to preview to publish?

(Please feel free to test your posts in the RANDOM THOUGHTS area.  All the MT-driven stuff uses pretty much the same code, so if I can figure it out here, it'll work everywhere.)

Also-- My use of frames has nothing to do with this problem, does it?  Thanks in advance!!

Hmmm, I didn't think the cookies had anything to do with the Preview "remembering info" - I thought it was the use of the MTCommentPreview* tags that carried that information over to the Preview Comments page.

When I view source on your preview page, it looks like the Comment Listing Template, not the Comment Preview Template. Did you by chance change the Comment Preview Template and use the wrong code in it? The default code is here. It includes the necessary Preview tags you'll need.
