What happens when you dirify an entry title that has a slash in it?

I'm thinking of converting my Archive File Template for Individual Archives to use the Entry Title instead of the Entry ID. But I'm wondering what characters dirify does and does not affect. A slash clearly could cause a problem with the file path if dirify doesn't know what to convert it to.

On a related note, can I also use the trim_to attribute to shorten the Entry Title in an Archive File Template?

CODE
<MTEntryTitle dirify="1" trim_to="25">

Some of my titles are pretty long.

A slash is removed. So's a - which seeems kinda silly to me, - is a legal character, but then I don't really like it killing my Caps either...

Hmmm what about periods?

I don't mind about the caps - or maybe I do, now that I think about it....

Well, - is removed basically because everything that's not alpha-numeric is removed. So it's not really "remove anything that could cause problems on some filesystems."

So, does anyone other than me think that a URL result like this is just *too much*??

Hehe. What I'm trying to do is name my Individual Entries in such a manner that, if I ever have to re-import them, the re-numbered Entry IDs won't result in incorrect links for anyone who's referenced them, or search engines, etc. (kind of like what happened in the forum here, LOL.)

(And I already have a redirect plan for the original Individual Entries URLs to avoid that scenario once I make the switch to another naming convention.)

P.S. Periods are removed too.  :)
