Full Version: Another fresh use for MT

Movable Type isn't just for blogs!  It really has a great amount of potential for being a general content management tool, as many of you know.  Taking the idea of a photoblog to the next level is

Picture Yourself

Picture Yorself a showcase along the lines of The Mirror Project, where people share their pictures of themselves!

Its powered by Movable Type, and uses an entry for each picture.  There are several direct connections to the MySQL database to make things work (like the 20 most recent entries with next/previous links, and the random image).  Its really a great use of MT, and a great showcase of something great that can be used without too much work for Movable Type.

This project is the brainchild of Christine, and really is worth checking out smile.gif

This project may be my brainchild, but it wouldn't even be live yet if it wasn't for Kristine.

To add to the "MT is amazing" part of this thread, the site went from a mock-up image at 3pm Tuesday afternoon to live and running in just over 6 hours.  SIX hours.  We've made  (ok, who am I kidding here?  Kristine made...) additional tweaks since then, and there are some larger additions coming in the near future, but to have a site with this power running within 6 hours?  THAT is amazing.

Originally, we didn't think MT could power it.  Now?  I wonder if there is anything that MT can't do.

Kudos to Ben & Mena!  Kudos to MT!  Kudos to Kristine!

Cool jellybeans!! Awesome work, ladies! Now I need to buy a digital camera.  :)

I agree that there doesn't seem to be anything MT isn't useful for. I'm moving more and more of my site to being managed totally with MT. No more Frontpage or FTPing site changes for me.

Now if MT could only generate a Forum board and a Web Cam interface, I think I'd be in heaven!

And another little update - we have a submit form working on PictureYourself that works directly with the MySQL database - how cool is that?!! smile.gif

Girlie, go get that digital camera now so we can see your pretty face!! smile.gif

Wow.  word travels fast.  I was reading Frankie's site the other night where he had posted his pic to My Picture.  I clicked the link and who was looking back at me but Kristine?  I guess I'm gonna have to figure out the timer on my digital camera now.
kadyellebee
Tee hee - yep, there's a few pics of me over there smile.gif

And Mikerzz, all my pics have actually been taken with me holding my cam out as far as my arm reaches and snapping the picture that way!  So I still haven't figured out the timer yet.  LOL!
