Just installed MT on my workstation (a mac g4 running OS 10.2) to be used as a worklog.   Installation went without a hitch, and I can now write and save entries to my blog.  However, when MT goes to publish those entries to my site, I get the following error:

QUOTE
An error occurred:
mkdir /Library/WebServer/Documents/archives: Permission denied at /Library/WebServer/CGI-Executables/lib/MT/FileMgr/Local.pm line 100

Anybody have a clue as to how to fix this?

That usually means there's something amiss with your local site/local archive paths in blog config.

Am I just totally missing something here?

The "Documents" folder needs to be 777, which is all users have Read, Write, and Execute permissions.

hrm.    i did not send all those duplicates.   how weird.

okay  the problem with setting the "Documents" Folder to 777 is that's my main web directory....and its not permitted.

Any other suggestions?

Check out I get an error about .new files when rebuilding under troubleshooting about that.

Otherwise you could move your blog down a directory and set *that* folder to 777.  And use htaccess to show it as the main index or something.

Please post back how it goes!

You don't need to chmod to 777 for the webserver to write. Do a get info on Documents and set the Owner permission to www. That should allow the webserver access.
