Full Version: using dreamweaver to skin a site?

I heard a rumor from a friend that Dreamweaver had a plugin that allowed it to make skins for a site.  I'm just wondering if this is true and if anyone knows where I can download this said plugin.  (I searched for it at the Dreamweaver site but maybe I'm not using the right keywords?)  BTW I have Dreamweaver 4 on my computer.

Skins?
Do you mean cascading style sheets?

what I mean by skins is like giving the viewer the option to chose what your blog looks like.  For example Robyn's blog http://www.tampatantrum.com/skins/index.php .

Well, I could see how Dreamweaver could be used as a tool to help with making the various skins, but I haven't seen anything that would create the whole set up for you.  I did a few google searches this morning and still didn't come across anything.

When I'm creating a new skin, I create my html for the layout, and then divide it up into the header and footer and then use a dummy file with content in it so I can be sure it all works out before I put it up.  And these parts of the skinning could be done in dreamweaver.  But the actual setup of the skins still needs to have files created and uploaded.

In case you haven't seen the tutorial that Robyn and I used to skin our sites, Amy's site is the place to go - Domesticat's Skinning Tutorial.  I created a companion tutorial for using with MT - Working with Amy's How to Skin Your Site and the Movable Type journalling software.  And even though the setup is daunting, its so easy to add skins after you get it all set up! smile.gif

Unforntunately I'm a complete dunce and don't understand PHP even though I've read this dummies book cover to cover.  LOL  I was hoping for a miracle doohicky that would magically make it happen.  Ah well, guess I will have to actually learn how to do it.  haha  Thanks for the URLs I think I had deleated the bookmarks.

Sorry I don't have a *poof* magic solution, but if you get stuck, feel free to post back and one of us can help!
