Has anyone out there used MT to create an online group planning calendar?

I've been looking for a good group calendar function for ages, but recently started wondering if it's possible to use MT to do this.

Purpose of calendar:
To show music convention info.

How I figured it would work:
Convention planners would each get an Author account. I estimate a maximum of 50 Author accounts, probably less (this is for a particular type of music). One blog for the calendar planner.

From a user's point of view:
Users could either click on a particular weekend to find out what music conventions are on that weekend, or see a list of all conventions (sorted chronologically or by category).

If they drill down further by clicking on the name of a particular convention, they would see a brief entry with an information overview (date, location, guests of honour, etc.). They also have the option of reading more information in the extended entry.

My question
Does anyone see anything glaringly wrong with the above?
Is there an easier way of doing this?
Also, does anyone know of sites that have already done something similar?
Or that have a focus on the MT-Calendar aspect?

I plan to make this calendar blog part of a multiblog site (with a community newsfeed, editorial content) with PHP/RSS. I'm still learning more about PHP & RSS with the help of resource links already posted in the MT discussion forums smile.gif , but as far as I can tell, it does seem possible.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, I definitely think that your ideas are doable!! smile.gif

I think that a good thread to point you towards is Dawn's Calendar info because there are a lot of great tips there.

It sounds like maybe a full page calendar like the one Maddy has might be good for your index page, along with other navigation links to the various archives (date, category, and maybe even author, if your posters will be from various areas).

That should get you started at least - post back if you have more questions! smile.gif
